Bay Area Business Advisor Recognized as State Star

Every year SBDCs throughout the country nominate their peers for innovative programming and excellence service to their respective business communities. John has been a critical team player in numerous center transitions over the past couple of years assisting North Bay and San Francisco area clients,” said Ann Johnson-Stromberg Norcal SBDC Region Program Director. “I’m always really proud to share the impacts our organization helps to create while assisting Northern California small businesses. But none of that would happen without the commitment of impassioned advisors like John.”

All of the nation’s SBDC State Stars will be at a national professional development conference coordinated by America’s SBDC in Dallas in September for contribution recognition to the regional and national networks.

The Norcal SBDC Regional Network provides technical assistance and low-cost workshops to 13 Northern California counties. Therefore, their service area is quite expansive from the Oregon border to Santa Cruz. As a result, services are provided through 12 Service Centers, three satellite offices and numerous outreach locations. "John's down-to-Earth, realistic approach when working with clients quickly builds trust and camaraderie," said Marin SBDC Director Miriam Karell. One of several Bay Area centers - located in San Rafael, Marin County - John works with a variety of businesses to help them get loans, organize financials and increase sales. "A recent client of his told me - How did I get so lucky to be connected with John? Without him, I would not have been able to get my business on track and at a level where I am earning a living wage now," she said.

About the NorCal SBDC Program

Small Business Development Centers of the Northern California (NorCal SBDC) help individuals start, manage, and grow their businesses. Funded in part by the US Small Business Administration, the program helps entrepreneurs with issues most critical to the success of their small business.

SBDC Business Advisors have entrepreneurial experience, likewise they know what it takes to operate profitably and grow a business successfully.
